Personality: Gouzen is a very hateful person. He lacks the need of friendship, and looks down upon anyone who wants friends. Friends, to him, are a liability. Gouzen doesn't talk much, though when he does it is usually to argue with or insult the person he is addressing. He has a quick wit and a bad temper, which usually get him into a lot of trouble. Gouzen is very arrogant, and thinks that even though he may be a genin his bloodline makes him more powerful than anyone he meets. Gouzen is too proud to ask for help, and prefers doing things alone. Even if the task should be done with more than one person. He is very violent, and tends to start fights over anything he can. Usually the one to throw the first punch, he won't stop until he is the one who throws the last. He won't stop fighting unless he is killed, and some say that due to his stubbornness he might keep fighting even after death. Gouzen treats women with more respect than men. He believes that it is wrong for a man to hit a woman, unless she is putting his very life at risk. Anything goes if one is a life or death situation.

Weapons/items: Gouzen carries a sword amulet on a chain around his neck. This amulet is used in conjunction with his kekkkei genkai. Like many other Rain Ninja, Gouzen also carries with him an umbrella. This umbrella is packed with needles that can be launched outward and used for Jouro Senbon no Jutsu.
Goals: To take control of his inner demon, become the leader of Amegakure, and lead his nation into taking over the shinobi world.

Birth&Childhood
Gouzen was born under a full moon. That night would be the darkest night of his life, though he would have no idea why. Gouzen was an unusual case; he was born a demon. The doctors worried about what kinds of things Gouzen would be able to do as a child with those powers, having not been taught how to control them. So, they sealed his bloodline within him. The result was a massive kanji seal on his chest. His father had died while he was in the womb, so Gouzen didn't have a father figure to look up to. The new man of the family would be his older brother, though he never payed attention to Gouzen. They didn't like each other, and they both stayed a good distance away form each other. Gouzen was never a people person, not even in childhood. He only ever played alone, and he never made friends. Gouzen's mother didn't worry about this, it would just mean he would be a stronger shinobi later. However, Saoto's friends did worry. They tried to force Gouzen to play with their children, and always tried to bring him along when they went out somewhere. However, this always ended in the other child being injured. Eventually they gave up and started telling their children to stay away from Gouzen.

Academy Arc:
Gouzen entered the Academy at the appointed age, and his mother came to the ceremony. Though she congratulated him, and tried to support him, Gouzen knew that she didn't really feel what she pretended to when around the others. When they were in public she smiled all the time, and showed him a kind of affection she had never shown in their home. Gouzen hated it, it was so fake it made him sick. He went through the academy, learning everything he needed to become a good shinobi, and did nothing else. When he came home he would train until dinner was ready, and then study until he had to go to bed. He had no time for friends, or for playing ninja, or anything like that. The result was that when it came time for Gouzen to go through the exam that would make him a Genin, he passed with flying colors. Gouzen ended up with the second highest grades in the class. He was given his headband and told to return to the academy in a week or so to be assigned a team and sensei.
