Personality: Seth is a very calm and easy going man. Over the time he has lived, Seth has experienced just about every emotion and state of mind one can experience. Happy to sad, depressed to loathsome, and even fear to acceptance. This lead him to soon get bored of emotions and start to develop little need for then, just to lose them over the course of his life, though he can feel some emotions on very rare occasions. Once he even went insane just to later become bored with it and turn sane again. Being this way he is very unorthodox and his next action can be hard to tell.
Being a Shinigami, it is Seth's responsibility to judge the dead with either reward or punishment. Usually he doesn't follow these guild lines and often before doing so gives the dead an extra option. To stay there in the mortal realm with him for all eternity. This being more of a defense mechanism to keep him from getting lonely or bored.
Another thing about Seth is that because he often shows no emotion he will often use a series of marks to express emotion.
History:
Seth Kamen was once a powerful deity called a Shinigami, a God of Death. It was his job to travel to the mortal plain with other Shinigami to punish or reward the dead and either sends them to the afterlife or to eternal damnation, based on their acts during their life. Lead by the Tengu King of the afterlife, the Shinigami follow his commands and keep the balance between the passages for the dead. However his son Seth, who is the heir to the Tengu Throne, did not follow his father’s orders much.
This made the Tengu King angry and he decided to banish Seth from the Shinigami realm to the moral plain as punishment for his disobedience. Also the Tengu King decided to strip Seth of some of his Shinigami powers, leaving him with only eternal life and some the ability to judge the dead. The Tengu King also trapped Seth in a human body of his own to keep him from traveling back to the Shinigami realm until his punishment was over. Once Seth has collected and pass judgment on over 100,000 souls his punishment will be over and once again he will be able to return to the Shinigami realm and get back all of his powers, though he has been granted some of his powers back over the years because of the dangers of the mortal world.
Over the past 3000 years since Seth was banished to the Human world he has seen the rise and fall of nations and the birth of shinobi and the great shinobi nations. With all the changes to the world, Seth has decided that he is in no rush to go back to the Shinigami realm. His interests in humans and the other beings that roam the land of the living has perked his curiosity. Over the years he studied the way humans lived and how different it was compared to Shinigami. He discovered who the human mind works and how humans act based on their surroundings. How they are always trying to control the things in their lives and avoid the things they fear most, like death. He of course didn't have to worry about such things because he could live forever but humans he found have fragile minds and even frailer bodies. For years he lived with them in various villages and towns. Traveling the lands to find out more information about humans. After all he was still a young Shinigami.
Over his years of traveling he found humans to be rather greedy and violent. Constantly causing war over land and wealth, or killing for love and justice. No matter what the reason the result always ended with the death of someone. Which was good for him because he needed to pass judgment on the souls of the dead and those who died with anger or in a violent way would usually become ghosts. Murder was probably one of Seth's favorite things about humans. Murder lead to even more ghosts and ghosts were not just a great way to gain favor with the Tengu King but they also made great companions for Shinigami, or at least Seth thought so. Ghosts were usually rare though and minor ones weren't worth anything really. So Seth needed to find the worse possible places in the world. Where murder was common and tragedy lead to powerful ghosts.
Seth found this in the Great Shinobi Countries. People trained to kill for others gains. It was the perfect way to find powerful ghosts and spirits to either serve him or pass judgment on. Over the years Seth managed to gather up a large amount of ghosts. He loved to follow in the shadows of various shinobi missions during the Great Shinobi Wars and there was the time that Pain attacked Konoha, leaving hundreds dead. Those days allowed Seth to add a good amount to his count of 100,000 souls and he managed to get a few ghosts from it.
Sadly though after the fall of the Akatsuki and the rebuilding of Konoha times of peace started to come to the lands. This mad things difficult for Seth. Little murders, low death counts for missions, no war to send shinobi to their graves. This made things boring for him and he couldn't interfere with the affairs of human directly because he was a Shinigami. This lead to Seth taking refuge in an old abandoned temple outside of Kirigakure. A place where his ghost and spirit servants kept him safe. Because of the constant presence of ghosts and spirits that now live there it is common that the people make stories about them. Stories of the haunted temple are constantly spreading around the land and with it fear of the place. Not even shinobi dare go near the temple, leaving Seth to be able to live there in peace.
The most famous myths among the stories are of a mysterious man who is said to live inside the temple and the five Youso Mystics. The tales of these five spirits are based off of the five elemental sages that once took refuge in five sacred temples. Each one was able to control an element, but one day they were attacked by the shinobi villages during the great wars because they wouldn't take a side. The five sages fought bravely to protect the temple and themselves but were cut down by the overwhelming amount of ninja. It was said that the sages spirits stayed at the temple, protecting the temple even after their death. Seth being a Shinigami sought out these mystics and made a deal with them that he would assist them in protecting the temple as long as they served him when needed. The mystics agreed with this being that if they didn't Seth could have passed judgment on them and sent them to the afterlife.
These days Seth still sits within the temple. Waiting for souls that need passing and awaiting for chaos to overtake the land just as it did during the great shinobi wars and the attack on Konoha by Pain.
