A Parting Gift
Nami swiveled around in the large leather Raikage's chair for the last time. She looked around the office, as it rush past her eyes, round and round, in a quick circle until gravity slowed her down, bringing her face forward with the window looking out over Kumogakure. Millions of times she'd tried to put her self into Yoshimo's shoes, wondering what it was like to run a country. Yoshimo was not the leader type, and he was better off to the country not being its leader. He'd had the will to protect, and that was strong in him, but he just wasn't the type of person to file papers, go make allies, and do Kage like things. He had a better place among people he could work for.
Luckily Nami had been there for him. She didn't mind the countless hours of paper work, and all the time spent over in the office, picking up Yoshimo's slack. Making sure the alliances got their copy of paperwork, making sure Kumogakure's was filed correctly, always watching out for Yoshimo, and being his backbone. She never felt as if she was inferior, it was just the way she was. She felt that she would have to help and do work to be seen or acknowledged. In all her ears, her Father never acknowledged her as a woman, always a girl, and without the support of her mother, she never grew into a woman. She never respected her own growth, never knowing that she was more than just an "office girl". When Yoshimo came to Kumogakure, she finally felt respected as a woman. She felt valued, and that she had an opinion or say in things. Like a wife and a mother is supposed to feel.
Now that Yoshimo and her were leaving someone would have to run the country. Munashii would have to do it, he was the only one able to. She took the pen and paper on the desk and looked at it one last time, signing her name under Yoshimo's. He was only what, 15 years old? A chuunin? He would have to run the country. The title of Yondaime Hokage would be up to him, and even though that would leave the country open for attack, Yoshimo would be there to protect it even if it came under fire. But it was now time for Munashii to grow up fast.
Nami got up, looking around the clean office, and looked one more time. The Raikage's robes were neatly folded on top of the desk along with the papers on top of them. Kumogakure would be safe. She hoped. Nami sighed and turned around to a small black haired child, swinging its legs back and forth in a large chair. He'd stayed silent like he was told and didn't say a word. He looked up to his mother, with big eyes, waiting for her instructions.
"Lets go.."
Nami held out her hand towards the child, letting the small boy grasp it, and hold on tight as they walked out the back entrance of the Raikage's office. It was a long dark tunnel, with a small light at the end, and Nami and the child walked silently down the hall. As they walked Nami realized something.
"Aren't you scared of the dark??"
The boy was still holding her hand, and Nami couldn't see him. Of course she couldn't see anything in the darkness, but it was a bit different. She couldn't see him or sense him at all.
"No mommy. Daddy isn't scared of the dark"
As they neared the light, Nami sighed, seeing the little child again. He had a fuzzy dark hair and dark brown eyes. He was a normal child, but there was something about him that was just plain awkward. Nami couldn't get a hold of it, but she'd felt the same way around his father when they'd first met. Maybe it was their chakra or the way they looked.
Maybe all Izoto children were weird like that.
