Well for the ones that think it isnt, go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_elements_(Chinese_philosophy) and scroll down until you see the first scroll. Then look at the row that says Phase.
Re: Yin-Yang
Nobody gives a fuck about what wikipedia says. This is Naruto, this is canon, so no, the fiver normal elements are not yin yang.

Re: Yin-Yang
But, we have to go by the manga....Each element doesn't have its on Yin or Yang Manipulations...Therefore the yin-yang in each element doesn't exist. Though I was thinking of introducing "Killer Intent" to the site, I'm not sure how it would affect people in a whole.

Yin-Yang Explanation wrote:
This is a compiled explanation for chakra nature alteration, or physical recomposition, whatever you want to call it.
Throughout chapter 315, 316 and 375, the term consistently used is 性質変化, pronounced "seishitsu henka". That term can be translated as "nature alteration/manipulation", or more loosely as "physical recomposition". The term "elemental recomposition" is not used even once. In the online scan for chapter 375, the word "seishitsu henka" was mistakenly translated as elemental recomposition, introducing the idea of a sixth, unknown element.
By reading chapter 315 and 316 carefully, one will learn there are five basic ways to alter the nature of chakra: these are the five elemental recompositions. But when Naruto asks about genjutsu, Chouji's Baika no jutsu, Shikamaru's Kage Mane and medical ninjutsu, Kakashi says it's gonna be a rather difficult explanation, and Yamato implicitly identifies it for us as another form of nature alteration. That makes five basic forms of nature alteration plus Yin-Yang which make six.
Now I'll try a guess at the explanation Yamato was not willing to make.
To cut a long story short, Yin and Yang are the basic principles behind all that exists. The concept is actually much more complex than that, but thankfully, the complete explanation would be irrelevant to my point. Thus in the Narutoverse, I believe Yin-Yang manipulation is the alteration of reality itself: it allows a ninja to bend the rules of the world they live in.
Everything that is not elemental (Fuuton...), taijutsu or raw chakra manipulation (water walking...) is susceptible to be Yin-Yang in nature. That includes Orochimaru's White Snake powers, Naruto's Kage Bunshin, and most likely space-time ninjutsu (like kuchiyose). Just like taijutsu, everyone can use Yin-Yang to a limited extent, but some more arcane moves require particular skill in its use: the opening of more than one of two chakra gates takes a natural affinity for taijutsu. And similarly, becoming a healer, a genjutsu specialist or using techniques such as Kage Mane and the like imply a Yin-Yang predisposition.
Additionally, we learn that the ability to merge two elements into one requires a Kekkei Genkai. Obviously, all Kekkei Genkai do not involve merging elements and creating new ones. I think however, that each and every Kekkei Genkai includes a degree of chakra nature alteration. By now, you've already guessed what I'm about to say: sharingan, byakugan, rin'negan, the Cursed Seal, etc... are all Yin-Yang based Bloodline abilities because they bend reality's rules like only Yin-Yang manipulation allows one to do.
Well, I think that's about it...
